Our Andrew Hill HOSA Chapter represented Andrew Hill High School and the East Side Union High School District with the highest degree of professionalism, courtesy, responsibility, and pride during the State Leadership Conference in Anaheim last week during our Spring Break.  This is what we have come to expect from our chapter annually for more than a decade.

Our 59 students attended daily workshops and guest lectures.  They also participated in the Courtesy Corps where they provided administrative and logistical support for the competitive events and sessions, as well as participated in competitive events and subject area testing.  In addition, our students networked with members from other chapters and started building professional contacts and new friendships.  Throughout their daily participation, our students were always in their rooms by bed check and stayed within our attendance boundaries, showed up on time to all events daily, maintained their HOSA blues regulation wear, and were a positive voice of support to each other and to other chapters.  Lastly, our students each completed a reflection documentation created by our chapter before we returned home.

In addition to supervising our students, participation in workshops, and networking with presenters, our 6 advisors and chaperones also volunteered their time as Event Coordinators and Section Leaders to ensure that the competitive events ran smoothly throughout the conference and attended all mandatory advisor sessions in support of our state HOSA program.

Andrew Hill High School HOSA Chapter also received special School Wide Recognition for the following:
  • Volunteering over 120 hours with the National Marrow Donors Program in support of registering our community for the NMDP.  Video link of recognition here
  • Recruiting 81 participants in our blood drives through the school year...and still counting!  We still have ONE MORE blood drive event before the school year is out! Video link of recognition here
Two of our students received individual awards and will be moving on to Houston in June to participate in the International Leadership Conference!!!
Here are also a few links showing our school pride and spirit!

Throughout the year, our students fundraised (and continue to fundraise) close to $17,000 in order to attend this conference!!!!  So if you see one of our members wearing HOSA gear around town or campus, please encourage and acknowledge all their hard work, their resilience, and their honorable representation of our school and district this year.  It was a tremendously memorable and fulfilling experience for all.

As we prepare for Houston with Andy and Noreen, we will need to raise another $3500 to make it happen.  If you are aware of any funding streams or sources through the district or SVEF that can help us reach our goal, we would really appreciate the help.

Thank you for your well wishes and support, and enjoy the attached photos of our awesome Andrew Hill High School HOSA Chapter Members!
