The Social Justice and Legal Practices Academy at Andrew P. Hill High School provides a learning experience for students focusing on community-minded leadership skills and knowledge of the legal system to overcome obstacles to their success, graduate high school, and be prepared to pursue careers and postsecondary education.
Academy teachers approach core classes through the lens of social justice to promote community engagement and a critical awareness of local and global issues.

The goals of a social justice education approach include "awareness and understanding of social oppressioon and its multiple systemic manifestations, acknowledgement of one's role(s) in these systems (as a privileged and/or disadvantages social group member) and a commitment to develop the vision, skills, resources and coalitions needed to foster lasting change (Adams and Zuniga, 2018).
